IMPORTANT TAX DEADLINES.
April 17, 2018 is the deadline for filing your 2017 tax return.
April 22, 2018 is the deadline to correct a rejected return. Check your Federal and State Acknowledgements to ensure you do not have any rejects lingering, or taxpayers you were expecting to return and never did.
Taxpayers may be penalized for failure to file a timely tax return.
2014 Tax Return Refund.
If you have a refund coming to you on a 2014 return, you must file by April 17, 2018, to get the refund. If you file later, that money is gone. The IRS will not issue a refund when an original return is filed more than three years after the return due date.
You cannot file an extension to file a return for the 2014 tax year. Filing extensions are only good for current year returns.
