child celebrating graduating

Prep for What’s Next

The Local College Access Network (LCAN) brings schools, nonprofits, businesses, and community leaders together to help students prepare for life after high school. Our focus is simple: making sure every student has the support they need to graduate with a clear, achievable plan for their future.

We pay special attention to students who may face additional barriers—such as first-generation college students, low-income families, and adult learners—so that every child has a fair shot at success.

Why this Matters:

More than 60% of jobs will soon require education or training beyond high school. Yet in Escambia County, only 41% of adults currently hold a college degree or career credential.

That gap affects local job opportunities, wages, and long-term stability for families. When more students complete education beyond high school, our entire community becomes stronger—and your child has more options.

How LCAN Supports Students:

LCAN partners work together to:

  • Increase college and career awareness
  • Improve access to financial aid and scholarships
  • Connect students to career pathways and workforce opportunities
  • Remove barriers that prevent students from completing their education

By aligning resources across the community, we make it easier for families to navigate the path from high school to college, technical training, or a career credential.
