SUPPORT UWWF'S COVID-19 RELIEF FUND

In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic facing our nation and community, United Way of West Florida has launched a relief fund to support those affected in our community. As schools, businesses, and public establishments in our community close, we understand that people's ways of life are being significantly impacted. Hours are being cut, services are being eliminated, and wages are being lost.

The UWWF COVID-19 Response Fund will support families within our service area that are struggling to keep their lights on or pay their bills. It will ensure that seniors and veterans have food on their plates and provide relief to households that can't access adequate childcare or fill emergency prescriptions. It will provide support to nonprofit agencies and programs to nonprofit programs that are providing critical services to our community.

Those able to give may do so by texting 850RESPOND to 41444 or by visiting uwwf.org/covid19fund.

The COVID-19 situation in the United States is evolving rapidly as more becomes known about the virus, how it is spread, and how it affects people. For the most accurate, up-to-date, and reputatble information, visit the CDC's website or monitor their social media channels:

Due to the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), and growing concerns about public gatherings, we have implemented several changes across our programs, as well as in regard to our internal operating policies and procedures.

  • All VITA sites are closed until further notice. If you have already scheduled an appointment, we will notify you once we reopen. You may also complete your taxes online at www.myfreetaxes.com.
  • Due to the increased vulnerability of at-risk populations, we have pulled our RSVP volunteers from their service sites until further notice and have cancelled the March Lunch and Learn.
  • We are working with the host sites of our AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers to facilitate their ability to work remotely.

Changes to United Way of West Florida policies and procedures:

  • For at least the next two weeks, we will not host any volunteers over the age of 60 at our office.
  • Meetings that involve outside participants must be conducted by conference call or video conferencing.
  • Staff will not attend any in-person meetings outside of the United Way office.
  • Staff over the age of 60 are encouraged to work from home, as are other who have personal or health conditions.
