Creating Real-Time Impact with Chase RobertsonChase Robertson, spotlight Volunteer

As part of our National Volunteer Week (April 19–26) celebration, United Way of West Florida is excited to highlight Chase Robertson. Chase is a standout volunteer with our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, where he uses his expertise to provide free, high-quality tax preparation to individuals and families in our community.

From his days as a college student to his current role as a mentor, Chase’s journey with VITA is a testament to the power of hands-on experience.

From Student to Mentor

Chase’s involvement with VITA began in the classroom, but it quickly turned into a passion that has lasted far beyond his college years. Today, he finds immense joy in helping the next generation of volunteers find their footing.

"It started with me being in college volunteering for a class," Chase says. "Now, I get excited teaching the same college students how I learned—and that is with experience."

By sharing his knowledge, Chase isn't just helping people file their taxes; he’s building a pipeline of skilled volunteers dedicated to serving West Florida.

The Reward of Financial Relief

For many families, tax season can be a source of significant stress. Chase finds his reward in the moments when that stress melts away, replaced by the excitement of a much-needed refund.

"The reward is seeing the relief and excitement on people’s faces once their taxes are done and they get the refund they have been hoping for," he shares. For Chase, every return filed is a direct contribution to a neighbor's financial stability.

Chase’s Advice: See the Impact in Real Time

If you have ever been curious about how taxes work or wanted a way to make a tangible difference in someone's life, Chase encourages you to join the VITA team.

"I recommend volunteering so you can see how taxes are done in real time," Chase says. "You can create an impact on someone’s life just by filing their taxes for them."

Thank You, Chase!

United Way of West Florida is incredibly grateful for Chase Robertson’s dedication to the VITA program and his commitment to mentoring new volunteers. Thank you, Chase, for helping our community thrive—one tax return at a time!
