What is QPR?

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer—three simple yet powerful steps that anyone can learn to help save a life. Similar to CPR in a medical emergency, QPR equips individuals to respond to a mental health crisis with confidence and care. This free suicide prevention training teaches participants how to recognize the warning signs of suicide and take meaningful, life-saving action.

During the training, you will learn how to ask direct and supportive questions, listen without judgment, and encourage someone to seek professional help. QPR is not counseling or therapy—instead, it empowers everyday people to serve as a critical first line of support, connecting individuals in crisis to the resources they need. The goal is simple: to provide hope and help in moments when it matters most.
